Why was LaserBase created?

Most laser software is useful for control or image processing, but the process knowledge required for reliable results is often scattered across forums, videos, community posts, and private notes.

Users often need more than a button to press. They need to understand why the material, machine, or laser beam behaves the way it does. LaserBase is built to organize that knowledge.

The goal is a common base where settings, experience, measurements, and explanations reinforce each other.

What makes it different?

LaserBase does not treat diode, CO₂, and fiber lasers as completely separate worlds. The material model, image-processing philosophy, and knowledge base share a common foundation; the outputs and machine details differ, but the underlying thinking is unified.

Not just an image, but a process

Processing does not stop at turning an image into dots or lines. LaserBase also considers the physical side of engraving: material response, speed limits, acceleration, step precision, and real DPI.

Community knowledge

The best information is often held by people who use their machines every day. A good measurement, a precise failure report, or a validated material profile can save someone else hours of work.

LaserBase becomes truly valuable when the software and the shared, verified practical knowledge grow together.

Non-profit project

LaserBase is not a commercial product. There is no company, investor, or paid subscription model behind it. Development happens in free time, on personal equipment and infrastructure.

The long-term goal is a freely available, continuously improving laser platform where the software, documentation, and community knowledge are built together.

Behind the project

LaserBase is a personal development project by Fitos Zoltán, built on his own machines, experience, and infrastructure.

It started from a practical problem: laser knowledge often exists, but it is hard to search, hard to verify, and rarely connected directly to the software workflow.

Development is active. Every new feature, test, measurement, and piece of feedback helps the next user spend less time guessing and reach a good result faster.
